Basic Helping Skills Class?? ⛔👀

"What kind of course is this? Why should I take this course? Like, really??" 

That is my first thought when i looked at my subjects list for this semester. I was like do counselor need to learn and know this kind of subject?😅 As i know counselor only give an advice to problematic people. If not an advice that counselor will scold and humiliate that person before he/she know what kind of problem that client had. I also thought counselor job is easy and have a lot of free time. Other than that, I always imagine counselor only work at school setting only. Other setting doesn't need this kind of job since counselor job is to solve students behavior and give an advice on how to overcome their bad attitude. 💢

When I entered BHS class for the first time, I become in secured to myself because my first choice was to be a psychologist not a counselor. I had inner conflict with myself since this is not I want but I have to overcome that problem so, I convince myself to go with the flow. Maybe this is my opportunity to learn more about counselling and gain new knowledge from this course. I hope this course will help to widen my thought about "what is counselling all about?" 

My other problem is I'm an introverted person. I had a difficult situation when I arrived at UNIMAS. This is because I  really bad on how to approach and build a new relationship with people. I tend to closed myself before other people can approach me first. This personality also make me to observe people behavior first, then I would decide how match that person with me. If not, I will adjust my character to match with that person. BUT when I feel comfortable with someone, they will see my "real" behavior even myself doesn't realize since when my character goes like that. 💁💬

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone!! 🙋
So, today I would like to share about my journey during basic helping skills class. Fuhh, actually I don't know how to start it 😓

LOST!

That's the story where there it all began. At that time, I feel like I want to cry😭 but I know crying is not the best solution. Oh! By the way, I forgot to tell my name😅Just to let you know, I'm Deena and I'm Johorean! Okay, continue with the story. After finish my first Introduction of Cognitive Science (ICS) class, I  took my phone and checked my schedule whether i had class or not after this.

" KMC 1083 (LEC) FSKPM,TR3"

Oh what? KMC 1083? What kind of subject it is? But the important thing is where is the FSKPM,TR3 ? Yeah, that's the first thing comes to my mind. I just walk and walk until FLSCS! Then I asked someone, where FSKPM is. He helped me to find the faculty.. oh i already pass it 😅haha. Thanks to the senior who help me, but then I forgot to asked him whether he know where TR3 is. But never mind, I can find it by myself despite various challenges plaguing..😂 ceh, I'm just kidding 😜. Finally, I found the class. Yeaah! Entered the class with a myriad of feelings. Excited, scared, nervous and curious but acted like nothing happened. Just sit back and relax hehe.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION ON BASIC HELPING SKILLS!

To be honest, I feel curious to know what basic helping skills is. What I will I learn in the class and how to take the exam later. It sound weird and interesting you know. "Tak tahu pula nak tolong orang pon kena ada skill?" 😅 During our first class, Dr Fa told us what exactly we will learn on this class. I gain a lot of information during the class. And yeah, I started to love this subject and of course I fall in love with the way Dr Fa gave her lecture. I love when she told us about the cases that she had handle before, so interesting. 

In this class, I got to know that in order to be a professional counselor, we need to have skill, theories,stages of helping and the techniques. A counselor must congruence, respect, unconditionally positive regards with the clients and the most important thing is kept the confidentiality of what happen during the counseling session as long as it doesn't involve the client to harm themselves or other people around them.

MY FIRST ASSIGNMENT! 

So here, I want to told what I had learn with my first assignment. Dr Fa want us to tell about ourselves. I have to write about my background, my family but it more focuses about me actually like how do I manage my stress, conflict and angry. But the best part that I like when doing this assignment is when it come to list about the good things I had done in a week. Like seriously, I don't realized that all this time I had done something good even it just a small things. This assignment make me got know more about myself. 

So, I think that all for now. I will tell about others on my next entry. Great to know all of you! Have a nice day.

Assignment Memories

Hello to all the readers in this blog🙌.It is a pleasure for me to have a chance to write and post something in this blog.First of all,I want to thank Dr Fa for being such a nice lecturer during the class.Okay now i want to share my experience in doing the group assignments.My group members is Syira and Fazz.At first when I know they were my group member,I became very excited because I know that both of them are naughty and hyperactive😁 but I know that they were both very cooperative especially in doing assignments.In this assignment,we were asked to do a helping session video with a duration of 20 minutes.At first,it was quite difficult for us to think the ideas in the making of the video because we were not really clear about the topics we need to put in the video.At last,we decide to do the videos with different scenes and situation in the videos.It end up we put 9 different scenes in the  video.The most valuable experience that I get in completing this assignment is when shooting the videos itself.It really taught us to not to depend with other in completing this task.This is because the three of us did not asked for anyone helps in shooting this video as we know we can do it by ourselves.We shoot this video at UNIMAS and Waterfront area.We were a little bit shy to act at Waterfront because a lot of people were watching us during our act.But due to our commitment in doing this task,we carry on acting and shooting our video,giving our very best effort and energy,hoping that our video will become the best and enjoyable for the rest of the classmates to watch during the presentation.The most unforgettable moment in the making this video was when Syira and Fazz asked me to act as a 'mak nyah' in this video.That moment we were shooting this video at UNIMAS lakeside.It was really hard for me to act like that at first but in the end me myself was satisfied with that 'Jiji" character in that scene.After we complete in our shooting,we continued to edit our video.It was Syira who edit the video.She did a very good job in editing the video.There was a bit of problem when she was editing the video.The problem is the video is covered with the watermark which make the video was disable to watch very clearly.Thank God at the very last minute Syira was able to solve that problem and our video was ready to watch for our presentation.There are few valuable things I get during this assignment.One of it was I realize that the compatibility of three of us was really outstanding.This is because we create our scene spontaneously during the shooting process.I did not expect that we can do this task this good and outstanding way and we managed to complete it within the due date.

  Before I end this,I would like to thank Dr Fa once again for the guide that were given to us in completing this task.And finally to my special group member,Syira and Fazz,Thank you for the cooperation that both of you gave during this assignments.You guys are awesome in your own way girls!!Keep it up!!And I hope that we can be in one group again for the next assignment.Thats all for me.Thank you!!

Okay I will share a story about my experience and my group in carrying out the project assignment 2. Before that I will explain a little about the assignment 2, okay in each group have the 3 or 4 members of the group so the assignment is each group will make a video related helper and helpee in addition to practicing the techniques and skills that we have learned in the class BHS for 20 minutes. So I gonna share the story about my group assignment which are I was with a group with Fazu and Niesa. Honestly, I never exchanged and talk to them until I have a group with both of them. The first time we all met respective shamed each other. I’m also shame do not know why maybe I’m older than them. But thank God we were getting close while carrying out this task. Hahahaha 😂.. Okay I want to share about the process we got the idea to make a video. First of all we discuss to do a story on the issue of students who have had problems related to education, have the problem with group assignment and problem about time management. However, the time taken for less than 10 minutes then we discuss again to find new ideas for prepare the video for 20 minutes. Then the next idea is the same student has a new problem, namely the problem with group assignment and problems with boyfriend. hmmm. Be shortened, the student meet her friend to tell her issues her through. In this assignment we used many minimum response and summarizing skills. I want to upload the video that we made but can not upload, so sad. But it’s okay, I upload another video. Enjoy.. That’s all from me. Thank you ..

My First Experience in Class BHS

I am going to share about my first experience attend in the class’s Dr. Fa. My first attend in that class we learn about the helper-helpee relationship. As a summary on the topic of what I’m can describe is related to the relationship between the helper and the client's own counselors. Counselor relationship with the client should not be excessive which means the relationship is just not in session just below the exit. The relationship has gaps and limited by ethics. Although the interaction between counselor and client so closely during the sessions but that relationship and not just during the session lasting up to take the session. 

Okay exhausted the topic of the I am got, it is what I know .. Kalau salah tolong tunjukkan .. hehehe 😁... So I want to share my views about the environment in the classroom. First time I came this class, I still blur .. As what I learn that because I am is second intake so that why I did not know about BHS. But the day I will can follow the subject. This subject not only provide application knowledge about basic help to helpee also grant helper the techniques and skills to apply during the session. The important thing is the helper must listen, understand and practice the techniques and skills. Environment of classroom relaxed and very relaxing. About what that Dr. Fa teaching can be understood. What I like BHS’s class is the environment of the class was okay and does not cause students to stress. Actually I do not know what want to share else hahahaha 😂😂😂.. So, okay lastly but not least is I will share about the group assignment BHS, what will group member will do it but i will continue to next pages. That is all thank you. Please comment below .. ihihihi.. 😀

💖 Good evening to all the readers💫, okay now I am going to share with you guys about my experiences completing the individual assignment👤 and group assignment👥. After about 14 weeks classes with Dr Fa👩 on Basic Helping Skills, I learnt a lot of things. There’s a lot of memories💫 that we have creates among the people in the class💕. For the individual assignment, I don’t have any issue to talk about it because for me, it is just a simple assignment that discuss about our self👯. So, I prefer to focus more on experience I had during the group assignment. As you guys already know, our group are consist of 3 members. One thing that has surprised me is when my crazy dear monster (Syira)👽, Jiji (Eejay)💁 and I 👯were in the same group👥. In a group of three, we need to conduct a live helping sessions and must demonstrate skills, techniques, model and theory that we have learnt in class. Its maybe sounds easy for some but seriously not😭 for our group. We face a difficulty 😥 in order to come out with a good idea on how we are going to do the video. Our group video is different from others group as they made a story line for their helping session’s video😊.  So, our group decided to divide the video into nine scenes all together as you can see during our group presentation due to lack of idea😶. We conducted the video in different location which is UNIMAS💜, Shopping Mall💛, a parking lot💚 and Kuching Waterfront💙. But trust me, almost all the scenes that we made were spontaneously😆😆. Spending my time to complete this task with Syira💕 and Eejay💕 was the most precious memories ever💓. We have a lot of fun 😃😄since the first day we go for shoot together and we were totally enjoyed every single moment of it👍. We make everything goes easy as we maintain our teamwork✊ in all aspects. I still remember when Syira (editor)👧 said that our video have problems😰. The video and the subtitle were not in parallel. That time everyone became panic😰 and try to figure out the problems. We tried over and over to complete the video and finally it was working fine👍😉. We were very happy😃 for it. To be honest, I am proud with my crazy little monster for her effort on editing the video👏. 💨Okay now moving forward to the group presentation, three of us keep on motivating each other in order to present well in the class😊. The best moment ever is when almost everyone in the class enjoyed 👏our video and we never expect this. One of the best feelings is discovering that we are still appreciated by people like you guys🙈. Thank you so much💕. I think this is enough from me. To Syira👧 and Eejay👦, thank you so much ‘sayang-sayang’ for everything💕.

👯Hello guys😉💕! Okay today I am going to share with you guys about my experiences during Basic Helping Skill classes😊. Actually, I want to share both happiest😂 and saddest😭 moment I’ve experienced in this class but I have decided to talk about the happiest😄 moment only. The saddest😭 one I will share it later in another blog which is focus on experienced I got in completing the individual assignment and group assignment. Alright, do you still remember our first day class with Dr Fa? Well I still remember that time I was sitting behind Syira👧 waiting for our lecturer👩 to come in. I was very excited😀 but at the same time I was nervous 😓and little bit worried😟 about our lecturer. Its common the first day of class always creates some nervousness to all of us right? But after Dr Fa entered the class, I can see that she is very kind💘 and motherly towards her students that make us feel comfort with her. I enjoyed💫 the class so much.

During the first day of our class, we did a short of ice breaking. We introduced our self in the class and Dr Fa wants us to tell the class what is our speciality. That time, I don’t even know what my speciality is😶. So I just told them whatever comes in my mind😆. During the first class, I am not give a full of attention while the others was introducing themselves because that time I was mentally somewhere else🙇.

💨Moving forward to what is my first impression of the BHS class😯? To be honest, at first I thought that this will become a boring class and think how am I going to stay awake in this class later. But, I was totally wrong. After the second class with Dr Fa, I started to love😍 this class so much because of the family bond👪 that we create in this class is too close. We have the chemistry💘. We helped each other no matter what. I have learnt the skills💪 and techniques💪 to help people or helpee in a correct way. Dr Fa gave us all the knowledge that we need to become a professional counselor👍. In the BHS class also, we have done a lot of role play in order to help us to perform well during the final. I did the role play with Syira(my crazy dear monster)👽 but we end up the role play by laughing👭😂 on each other. I don’t know why this happened huhu😶 . But Alhamdulillah😊, during the final exam (session), Syira and I can improve better👧👧. Okay, I think thats all from me👯. Thanks guys for all your kindness💖. I LOVE YOUUUU MUAAHHHHHHH😗💖💘 --- Fazz
