First impression about basic helping skills

Salam and hi to all. I think that all of you must have the first impression about Basic Helping Skills right? For my first impression is that I thought this is a tough subject and it is going to be a boring class but I am wrong. When Dr. Fatahyah introduce herself I felt the positive aura coming and making the silent-as-graveyard class being more active and more interactive even though the class is at 2 o’clock in the evening. Actually Dr. Fatahyah is a very passionate lecturer that teaches every students in her class. We can see on how she handled us in the class and making the quiet student speaks and involving him or herself in the class. 

After several weeks of classes I found out that this subject is not that hard at all. All of the skills taught by Dr. Fa are the skills that we are using in our daily life without even knowing the name of the skills like minimal response, questioning and much more. This is so interesting when all of us heard for the first time in the class. And about the classmates at first sight all of us seems pretty much fierce and arrogant but after the ice breaking sessions all of us become friendly and talkative. 

For me this is a subject that every counselor must sit and must learn about the knowledge taught because the skills are so important to be practiced during counseling session with the client. Every skills is important to be mastered or we as a counselor cannot help to solve or guide the client to solve his or her own problems. Wrong skills used would cause the client feeling useless and not helping him or her to solve the problems faced. Thus making this subject is compulsory to every one of the trainee counselor and a counselor to be.
