WHAT IS BHS?

Assalamualaikum and hello guys. I am Umaiyrah and you guys just call me Umai. Here I want to share the first story about Basic Helping Skills course and me.

I am a second intake student in Bachelor With Honours (Counselling). I had to register the programme and the courses before I start my class. I observe the course that is KMC 1083, Basic Helping Skills is like a Jabatan Pertahanan Awam and others uniform that have a helping session. I am so blur of the beginning. Luckily, some friends came to help me in my first day of this class and they took me to the class.

Dr. Fatahyah is my lecturer whose teach me in the Basic Helping Skills. I knew her that she is a cheerful and enthusiastic in teaching. She asked us as second intake students to introduce ourselves. I was a little embarrassed when confronted with other friends but nevertheless I had try to talk even my voice is not melodious hehe. Dr. Fa asked us to write our names on blue paper that given by her and put the paper on our table. While teaching, Dr. Fa sometimes loves to story about the environments and events that have happened in her life. From that, we can learn to take the moral value from her story.

The first I learnt in my first day is begin from Unit 2: Helping Relationship. We are as the second intake students have been left out for the Unit 1. The Helping Relationship explain about the helper-helpee relationship. The main point is the skills and the issues, also about values, beliefs, needs and expectations.

And now, I'm still trying to love Basic Helping Skills course even though sometimes I do not understand in this study. Here I would like to thank to Dr. Fa because always give the words of encouragement and teach me and my friends without her despair.
