HELPING NEED SKILLS

Hello, everyone… in this opportunity, I am very glad when I have get chance to learn Basic Helping Skills course. Skills are very important in a helper as it is the effective way on how to approach helpee. Furthermore, humans are very unique. Not every people have same behavior, thinking and opinion. Sometimes, we can meet the people that we cannot expect. There will have people that open minded, where they easily to get along with others.  But there will have certain people that very careful and not easily to share their problem with others. Thus, these skills are very important to open their heart and go through their problems. When the helper used wrong skills, it will make the helping process failed. These skills will guide the helper and maintain them to always in true track.  

 

Many skills are need in helping process

            When I was at secondary school, I had experienced that one of my classmate had told her heavy problem to me but she never told that problem to her best friend. At that time, we are talking about our own families. After a while, her face suddenly become sad. She said she had problem with her families. I told her to share her problem if she was not mind. She started crying and told all her problems. I just let her lean on my shoulder for her crying. I gave her chance to tell her problems without interrupt and only used minimal response. I look her with empathy and show sad faces. She told me that her brother trapped with drugs. He always asking for money. Furthermore, that time her mother was stroke, where she cannot move. She told me that she very stressed thinking about that problems. She told me to promise that I will keep that secret. She told me that she feel comfortable to share her problem because I can understand her much better than her best friend. 

                                                

Both of helper and helpee try to find way to solve problem.

            Throughout that experience, I had learn that people will easily to come and share their problem if our skills are match with them. Thus, based on my view helping process need skills. Thank you.
