OH MY BASIC HELPING SKILLS (PART II)

ASSALAMUALAIKUM and we met again. Don’t feel so intense okay, that just my teaser. I just wanted to make things fun and I wanted to get your attention. I guess my current post is just below this entry. So for this second entry, I had a lot of things to talked about but I feel confuse which one to choose. So I choose you. Just kidding.

            So recently, we all just finished our group assignment. Pheww. Which is video project where we had to apply all of the helping skills that we had learnt in class. My team members which is Anis, Aruna and me myself. I had the best team member ever. I still remember there was one time we spent time together discussing about this project until 1 am at the cafe. It was really fun and we didn’t felt the time were passing by that quick. Everyone were giving the best and we all support each other.

            In this video project, we were asked to put some technique and skills of basic helping into certain scenarios of story. This basic helping skills in not really a fully skills that used in a counselling sessions. Helping is not a counselling sessions but counselling does have helping method in it. For example, if someone’s car is out of gas, you don’t have to do counselling sessions, but you just need to help him/her with the car. But, if let’s say someone is having a depression and you did a counselling sessions, you also can help or guide them to figure out themselves what is the cause by  using the specific techniques.

            So we decided to make a story about a 19 years old girl who never exit from her hometown and finally she’s been offered to study at Sarawak which is very far from her some. So she had a very hard time finding new friends and adapt herself in Unimas. And of course, there are some friends who willing to help her to adapt and finally she did and she became a whole new confidence person.
